Should children's developmental skills be the responsibility of the childcare provider and not the parent?

Most of us know that the demands of having a full-time job and being a parent usually do not gel well together. When it comes to meeting expectations in both areas, something has to give. Maybe a parent does not advance in their career as quickly because of their responsibility to their kids, or they seek out the kind of childcare provider who will help them with those milestones they may end up missing out on. It is a tricky balance.

However, the fact remains that even the most dedicated of paid professionals do not have as much of a vested interest in getting a kid doing the things they should be doing as the parents do. Some life skills are probably best left to mom and dad, and figuring out when to find the time to teach them is just another challenge of the parenting journey. 

One of the compromises that comes with another person caring for your own kids is that they are not always going to agree with your methods of parenting. There are certain rules that you may only be able to enforce at home, because they are not going to do it for you.
